Swire Professorship
The Department is rapidly expanding its educational and research profiles to establish aerospace engineering disciplines in the next few years. Sponsored by the Swire Group, we are inviting applications for a Swire Professorship. The successful candidate is expected to lead the Department’s efforts to develop both education and research programs, in particular, the undergraduate major program in aerospace engineering. He/She should be an internationally renowned expert in one or more of the following areas:

  • Aerodynamics, aeroelasticity
  • Aerospace structures and advanced materials
  • Aircraft design
  • Aircraft performance and control
  • Combustion, gas turbine, propulsion
  • Aviation systems

Applicants should have an earned PhD degree in aerospace/aeronautical engineering or related engineering fields, and are expected to have recognized pertinent academic, research and/or industrial experience. The successful candidate is expected to develop strong, independent and innovative research programs and to teach aerospace engineering courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Faculty Positions

  • Aerodynamics, aeroelasticity
  • Advanced materials under extreme environment, fatigue/creep and fracture
  • Aerospace structures, smart structures
  • Aircraft design
  • Aircraft performance and control
  • Combustion, gas turbine, propulsion
  • Aviation systems, avionics

Applicants should have an earned PhD degree in aerospace/aeronautical engineering or related engineering fields, and are expected to have recognized pertinent academic, research and/or industrial experience. The successful candidates are expected to develop strong, independent and innovative research programs and to teach aerospace/mechanical engineering courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Lecturer I/II
The appointee will teach three to four undergraduate-level courses per year, lead the Co-op program and Internship program for undergraduates, and provide student support and mentoring.

Applicants should have a PhD degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline with a strong commitment and dedication in undergraduate education. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Research Associate Opening
A research associate is sought to develop ultrasensitive nanosensors and/or nanoscale cooling systems in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Applicants should have a doctoral degree. Candidates with strong research background in micro/nanodevices, nanofabrication, and/or micro/nano-structure synthesis are strongly encouraged to apply. (Duration: 1 year, renewable)

Research Associate/Research Assistant Opening
Applicants should have a doctoral degree with strong research background in micro/nanofluidics, nanofabrication, and/or micro/nano-structure synthesis. PostDoctoral/ Visiting Scholar Opening
A PostDoctoral / Visiting Scholar Position in the area of BEM simulation of large-scale systems is available immediately. Candidates who have a good programming skill and a strong background in BEM, acceleration techniques and solid mechanics are particularly encouraged to apply.

Qualification: Applicants with a PhD degree is preferred. However, if a person has several-year experiences in the same field, he or she will also be considered.

Research Assistant Opening
Strong background in computational geometry or computer graphics with a keen interest in software development for Computer-Aidied-Design systems. Good programming skill in C++ and OpenGL. Interest in conducting frontier research in deformable modeling and mesh parameterization model. The candidate should be an innovative person

seeking to work in a entrepreneuring environment. Renumeration will be based on background and experience. Preferablly with degree in mechanical engineering, computer science or mathematics.
