Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Program in Mechanical Engineering
The Program
The PhD degree program seeks to imbue in-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering and the capability of formulating and conducting independent and original research and development in a chosen specialization. Students must successfully complete an advanced study program including postgraduate courses and a thesis of significant original research. They are required to take seminars. Students must also take and pass an English language communication course*.
A qualifying examination is set by the Department. The program usually takes three or four years of full-time study to complete if a relevant Master's or Bachelor's degree is held.

In addition to the General University Requirements, applicants for admission to the postgraduate programs should have completed a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
